With a view to achieve required and ongoing co-ordination between all stockholders in development of
IWT, there will be constitution of two committees, one by the State Government under the chairmanship of a Minister/Secretary to the Government or Kerala and the second under the chairmanship of Chairman, CPT and with a user as one of the members, Director, IW AI, Kochi will be the convenor of both the committees.

The terminal locations should have facilities of toilets, pay phones and souvenir/handicrafts, shops.

The design of terminals should be in keeping with local architecture and should reflect the aesthetic and cultural aspects of local society.

The channel of 2m depth, 32m/38m width and 10m clearance for bridges to be provided by the end of second year of 10th Plan and the two locks would be widened to enable passage of bigger vessels.

The 32-38m wide channel should be obstruction free, both horizontally and vertically.

The development of IWT on NW-3 should take into account both cargo and
tourism development requirements.

|
Together with the development of fairway, there should be increased use of IWT
by various public and private sector undertakings.

Full efforts will be made by all the concerned organisations both in public and ' private sector to use waterways for transportation of the major portion of the identified cargo, namely, POL products,
ammonia, naphtha, zinc concentrate,
phosphoric acid, rock
sulphur, furnace oil, fertilizer and cement to the maximum extent.

NW-3 should be connected to Cochin\ Port to facilitate movement of cargo by providing port
-IWT and IWT -coastal shipping interface. CPT may work towards providing a separate channel for coastal and
IWT vessels.

|
Government of Kerala will give full co-operation in acquiring land for construction of IWT terminals as also for development of tourism facilities, if need be.
IWAI will also facilitate leasing of acquired land for creation of IWT infrastructure facilities such as, terminals, warehousing facilities etc. under the poditive of IWT policy.
